Taken on March 3, 2007. This is at the height of his sickness. I don't have a lot of pictures of him around this time, because I was superstitious about documenting him as if he might be gone soon. Just this picture and the one before this, and one video of before he got too sick.

March 14, 2007 Dwight about a month after we adopted him. He has been better about 1.5-2 weeks by now, and has gained some weight.

Dwight grown up. He's a cuddler!

I live in Dallas, Texas, not very far from Irving. I had done the same thing that you did. I adopted my baby, at a SPCA Shelter off Industrial Blvd. Your story is very similar to my story. I would love to talk to you more about your pet and how Dwight is doing....If you don't mind, please email me at: jd_umipig@yahoo.com....Plus, I would love to hear more about this NDV...Thanks.....It's good to hear Dwight, is doing so much better.
ReplyDeleteInterferon is available and not very expensive considering how little it takes to work when given orally. Distemper MLV produces huge amounts of Interferon so why would anyone assume the Distemper virus does not? Injecting Newcastle's into a dog is nuts even if it did cause the dog to produce interferon. Probably would produce antibody to Newcastle but even Dr Sears says watch out for shock.
ReplyDeleteFinally, canine distemper has become very rare but no one advocates stopping treatment for it unless it becomes neurological. Most documented distemper dogs survive with secondary support
